 ECUADOR  A MEGADIVERSE COUNTRY

Ecuador is a megadiverse country due to a multiple combination of geographic and geopolitical location, geological and topographic characteristics, climate, rainfall and temperature, biological and evolutionary factors; the country has been configured as a perfect scenario for the concentration of life, under an incredible biological diversity, also catalogued as megadiversity.

PLURICULTURAL ECUADOR

Ecuador is considered a multiethnic country due to the presence of several groups of nationalities and peoples that maintain their cultural traits. These are characterized by having an initial culture and preserving their language, clothing, production activities and, most importantly, their ancestral territory.

Ecuador is one of the few countries today where there are still several indigenous tribes originating from its history.
It is a country that in its last constitution gave special emphasis on the rights of indigenous peoples, from the preservation of their language and habitat to their role in the country's politics.

Our country is pluricultural due to the presence of several groups of nationalities and peoples that maintain their cultural traits.

Ecuador megadiverse and unique in the center of the world

Ecuador Despite being a small country, it is considered one of the most mega diverse countries in the world for its richness and variety in terms of plants and animals per square meter.
Our country has 91 types of terrestrial ecosystems, 21 of the 27 marine and coastal ecosystems recognized globally, its location in the center of the world, with a variety of climatic floors has the presence of the Andes Mountains, the presence of the sea, and deep Amazon jungles and a unique treasure in the world that is a natural laboratory called Galapagos.

TYPICAL GASTRONOMIES OF ECUADOR

Each region has its own agricultural products which, in turn, provide the ingredients for the different types of regional cuisines.
In general, Ecuador's food consists of dishes with a lot of corn, this applies to the three continental regions. The continental regions are the coast, the Andean highlands and the Amazon; the fourth region is the Galapagos Islands.

Food from the Galapagos Islands

Tourists eat a lot of seafood and Andean style dishes.   The most commonly encountered dishes are all seafood based. Ceviche is, of course, an undisputed favorite, but there is also the lesser known viche. Viche is a creamy peanut-based soup made with sea bass, halibut or any other type of white fish. Typical Ecuadorian beef, chicken and pork are raised and prepared on ranches on the islands.

Ecuadorian Amazonian food

The Amazon rainforest is a natural wonder of biblical proportions. Home to approximately 400 tribes, each has its own unique language, territory and traditions within the jungle. The tamale is a common dish throughout the jungle regions of South America, with different variations. In the Ecuadorian Amazon it is made with mashed plantain or yucca, wrapped in a palm leaf and steamed.

Food from the Ecuadorian coast

Ecuador's beaches are some of the best in the world, and it would be foolish to overlook them on your trip to this wonderful country.
As is the case in much of Ecuador, the food of the coast has many different dishes based on its natural resources.
You should not be surprised to discover that the diet is based on fish and seafood. Shrimp, octopus and lobster are all you'll find on the menu at the local Ecuadorian beachside restaurant.

Food from the Ecuadorian Highlands

The typical dishes of the Ecuadorian highlands pose a challenge for lovers of Andean gastronomy. One of the most delicious dishes of Ecuadorian gastronomy is, without a doubt, locro de papas. A delicious potato soup that may contain cheese and/or leather, and is accompanied by avocado and roasted corn. Its creamy consistency and unparalleled flavor make this soup a true delicacy that you must try if you are visiting Ecuador.
